This document provides the details of the tuition and other fees that have been approved by the ACE-FUELS Management for MSc and PhD programmes for the 2024/2025 academic session. Prospective students are therefore expected to study this carefully in other adequately plan for the financial aspects of their study. All listed costs are in Niara for Nigerian students and in US Dollars for foreign students.
Full and partial MSc and PhD scholarships are available to qualified applicants on a competitive basis. Successful fellows shall receive funding support to cover tuition, accommodation, some research supplies and reagents.
ACE-FUELS also provides other forms of support to her students. These include up to N150,000 and N250,000 research support, respectively for MSc and PhD students, sponsorship to attend conferences within and outside Nigeria, an opportunity to participate in an exchange programme to sister Centres across West Africa, and opportunities to compete for prestigious scholarship programmes across the world using the ACE-FUELS platform.
Students are also given monthly stipends to cushion their living expenses while carrying out their research work.
Top priority will be given to female applicants as well as to applicants from other African countries. Applications for scholarship shall be announced, and competed for, and granted purely based on merit and need – the scholarship scheme is primarily instituted to support indigent students who cannot self-sponsor. Therefore, for Nigerian applicants, 25 – 100 percent tuition waiver is possible, depending on verifiable financial status of the applicant. The scholarship does not cover ‘Other Fees’ as indicated in the schedule below, however. For students from other African countries, the scholarship covers both tuition, other fees and accommodation in full.
The process leading to the award of scholarships is transparent and straightforward. All eligible applicants are given equal opportunities to apply, compete and be evaluated for the award. Details of the scholarship conditions and application process can be found in the ACE-FUELS Scholarship Policy document, available from the Scholarship tab
The fee components are as outlined below:
CATEGORY A – NIGERIAN STUDENTS
Nigerian students are eligible for tuition waivers. The tuition fee waiver may be full or partial (see Table 1), depending on the verified financial status of the student. Accommodation is offered for N200,000.00 per annum for interested Nigerian students.
