The Africa Centre of Excellence in Future Energies and Electrochemical Systems (ACE-FUELS), at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), hosted a remarkable International Women’s Day celebration, with the theme “Accelerating Action, Inspiring Change, and Empowering Women: Shaping the Future of STEM+E.”
The Vice-Chancellor of FUTO, Prof. Nnenna N. Oti, in her thought-provoking and electrifying speech, encouraged women to be tenacious and resilient, while pursuing their dreams. Similarly, the Centre Leader of ACE-FUELS, Prof. Emeka Oguzie, assured attendees of ACE-FUELS’ commitment towards advancing gender equality, and fostering an inclusive environment where women are empowered to lead the charge.
The event was well attended by professionals and experts from industry, academia, and government, providing a platform to recognise and celebrate the achievements of women in diverse sectors. It also featured panel discussions, inspiring stories, mentoring and networking opportunities.
As ACE-FUELS continues to champion initiatives that empower women, the Centre remains dedicated to accelerating action towards shaping a future where women are leaders in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, plus energy.
