About the Event

Topic: Corrosion behavior and oxide film characteristics of LPBF additively manufactured copper alloys

Corrosion resistance and oxide film characteristics of laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) copper alloys are crucial towards their practical applications in marine engineering. It is found that LPBF copper alloys usually exhibit superior corrosion resistance than their commercialized counterparts due to the improved homogeneity both in chemical elements and microstructures, which also facilitates the formation of a more compact and protective oxide film. To be noted, the dislocation tangles and elemental segregation at cellular boundaries and molten boundaries could greatly influence the corrosion behavior as well as the initial film formation process of LPBF copper alloys.
