Our Centre Leader, Prof. Emeka Oguzie, recently visited the University of Birmingham, to initiate strategic partnerships and collaboration between the institution and ACE-FUELS, FUTO.
The collaboration is expected to explore salient aspects of battery innovation on lithium and beyond lithium batteries, as well as battery recycling. Interestingly, a research group led by Prof. Emma Kendrick of the School of Metallurgy and Materials is keen to serve as the fulcrum of this collaboration.
This move is in line with Prof. Oguzie’s mandate, as the newly appointed Battery Ambassador of Nigeria, by the Faraday Institution, UK, to champion battery innovation and forge beneficial partnerships that seek to cater for Africa’s peculiar energy storage needs.
We believe this partnership will, to a great extent, provide the leverage necessary to build a network of battery specialists and innovators with the aim of achieving the vision of the “Battery for Africa” initiative.
