Brief History.

Mrs. Chinwe A. Appiah is a Principal Assistant Registrar in the Registry Department of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language (B. A. Ed.), from the University of Port-Harcourt, Rivers State. She is a professional administrator with over ten (10) years experience in providing high quality administrative support for Management, a member of the Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA) (2008), the Institute of Mass Communication and Information Management of Nigeria (IMIM) (2009) and presently a member of the Management Team of the Africa Centre of Excellence in Future Energies and Electrochemical Systems, FUTO.

Mrs. Appiah was the desk officer for the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) in the University (2012), the schedule officer responsible for the meetings of the University Governing Council and Committees of Senate, Secretary to several Management committees, with proficiency in gathering and analyzing information, data, reports and ensuring that all information is appropriately presented.

She is highly motivated, internet savvy and has been able to facilitate the administrative process in different units she has served, through hard work, innovativeness and creativity. She has also been instrumental in training, refocusing and a part of a support system for younger administrators. In 2015, she received an award as the most outstanding staff in the Registry Department of the University in recognition of her excellent performance. She is married with four (4) children.

Mr Lucky N. Onuoha

Brief History.

Mr Lucky N. Onuoha is a deputy director of Audits at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria, having previously obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Accounting from Abia State University, Uturu, Abia state, Nigeria; and National Certificate of Education (NCE) from College of Education, Nsugbe, Anambra State, Nigeria. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), as well as Institute of Certified Public Accounts of Nigeria (ICPAN). He has served in a number of University committees, the most recent of which is his appointment as the internal auditor of ACE-FUELS at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. He is happily married with children.

Engr. Dr. Innocent O. Arukalam

Training & Education Coordinator

Brief History.

Dr. Innocent Okechi Arukalam is a lecturer at the Department of Polymer and Textile Engineering, Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO). He earned his B.Eng in Polymer and Textile Engineering (2007), MSc in Polymer Science and Engineering (2010) and PhD in Polymer Science (2014) from FUTO.

In his dissertation, he worked on the use of some selected polymeric materials as inhibitors for mild steel, aluminium and copper corrosion in acidic media. After the completion of his PhD, in 2015, Dr. Arukalam proceeded for a two-year postdoctoral research fellowship under the framework of the Chinese Academic of Sciences – President’s International Fellowship Initiative (CAS-PIFI) at the Institute of Metal Research (IMR), Shenyang, China. His research study centered on “functional coatings for anticorrosion and antifouling applications in marine environment”. On his return in 2017, Dr. Arukalam co-founded the Electrochemical Energy, Interfaces and Nanotechnology (EMINeNT) Research Consortium with his mentor, Prof. Emeka E. Oguzie, in 2018. The establishment of EMINeNT provided the springboard for the establishment of the Africa Center of Excellence in Future Energies and Electrochemical Systems (ACE-FUELS) at FUTO. Since then, Dr. Arukalam’s main research focus has been on “Functional Coatings for Energy savings and corrosion protection”.

He has published over 30 peer-reviewed research articles in highly rated international journals. He is a member of several professional organizations in his academic discipline, such as Council for the regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), Polymer Institute of Nigeria (PIN), Institute of Polymer Engineers (IPE), Nigeria and Society of Plastics Engineers, USA. He is happily married to Mrs. Felicity M. Arukalam and they are blessed with three children (a son and two daughters).

Engr. Dr Ngozi Nwogu

Communication Officer

Brief History.

Engr. Dr Ngozi Claribelle Nwogu holds a PhD in Petroleum Engineering with bias in Gas Engineering from the School of Engineering, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom, having previously obtained Master of Engineering (M.Eng) and Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Petroleum Engineering from the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria. Her Doctoral degree research work was on ‘Advanced Ceramic Membrane Development and Testing for Application in Flue Gas Carbon Capture’. She was also a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the School of Engineering of Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, United Kingdom. She lectures at the Department of Petroleum Engineering, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria. She has authored, co-authored and published over 35 papers in International journals of high rating, as well as made over 25 World-Class international conference presentations that featured in the respective conference proceedings. She was a presenter at UN climate change conference, Marrakech COP22, 2016 and also a Technical Representative from Robert Gordon University, United Kingdom at the Climate change & emissions management (CCEMC) ZERO 2014 Grand challenge round one finalists conference for a low carbon future held 15-17 April, 2014 at the Shaw conference Centre, Edmonton, Alberta. Canada.

Majority of her publications are in the field of Ceramic Membrane application in renewable energy and carbon dioxide capture/emissions control for Climate Change mitigation. She also has research interest in the following areas: Natural Gas Engineering, Oil and Gas Processing, Application of Membrane Technology in Oil and Gas Separation, treatment and Purification purposes for clean Energy.

Diala Stanley Okechukwu

Brief History.

Diala Stanley O. is an academic staff – a lecturer II in Computer Science Department (CSC), FUTO. He holds B.Tech (in 2007, FUTO), M.Sc (2012), & Ph.D in View (University of Ibadan) degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science, and Computer Science respectively with research interest in Internet Technology, Machine learning and Artificial Intelligence. His professional qualification includes: Graduate, PCM, Nigeria Institute of Management (Chattered), Oracle Certified Associate (OCA); Membership of Professional Bodies: Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), Nigeria Computer Society (NCS, 09465), Computer Professional (Registration Council of Nigeria) (CPN, 004486/2015). Stanley has over 10 years of experience in his profession, attended conferences, workshops and have publications of Papers and Books.

Also, he is the class adviser for 2014 set of students, and the CSC Coordinator for Center for Continuing Education (CCE) Programme 2010 – 2018. Stanley is among the team that developed an Online Result Management System (Approved and being used in CSC, FUTO,) – used for course registration and result computations and transcript processing. Recently, he has been appointed the Head of Logistics and ICT in African Center of Excellence in Future Energy and Electrochemical Systems (ACE-FUELs), FUTO. He has vast knowledge in ICT and his experience spans across computing field. Having acquired skills in algorithm design, Mathematical models and software development; he has keen interest and passion of solving IT societal problems and with ambition to acquire more knowledge towards reshaping the future technology. He is happily married with two kids.

Mrs. Uju J. Udedibie

Former Administrative Team Lead

Brief History.

Mrs. Uju Josephine Udedibie is a Deputy Registrar with the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria. She attended the State University of New York, Cortland, New York, USA from where she obtained her BSc. and MSc. in Education/Social Sciences in 1983.
To fulfill her aspiration as professional teacher, she secured a teaching job with the Anambra State Education Commission, Nigeria where she served until September 1, 1993 when she was of the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria. As she grew on the job, she was identified and awarded among other things the first model staff of the University in 1997. She rose through the ranks to her present position as a Deputy Registrar on October 1, 2007 and had worked virtually in all the sections of the University from where she garnered a wealth of experience in Administration. She was once the School Administrative Officer and Coordinator of the School of Science, School of Health Technology, School of Environmental Technology, Centre for Continuing Education, Student Affairs Unit, Records & Statistics Unit, and currently the Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies.

Mrs. Uju Udedibie is vast in Human Resource Management and trains young administrators in the University and other tertiary institutions. She serves as an External Examiner during promotional interviews for Administrators. She is a member of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (2006) and also an Associate Fellow of the Institute of Industrial Administration (2010). She is married to Prof. A.B.I Udedibie and the marriage is blessed with four (4) sons.
