The ACE-TEENS STEM + E BOOTCAMP is a training programme organized by the Africa Centre of Excellence in Future Energies and Electrochemical Systems in the ACE-FUELS complex domiciled at the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) for youngsters from the age 8-18 years (Boys & Girls). It is aimed at helping teens to imbibe Science, Technology, and Engineering passion and create an early interest in digital and emerging technologies, through practical hands-on-training.

The 2023 edition was hosted from 29th August to 1st September 2023 and it involved a total of 26 teens in attendance. The teens were trained on Computer Programming, Web Designing, Waste Water Treatment, Solar Photovoltaics, Inverters

and Battery Technology, Nanotechnology, Leadership skills, Microbial Fuel Cells, Basics on Solar Energy, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Communications, Embedded Systems, and the Internet of Things (IoT) for the 4th Industrial Revolution.

In addition to providing hands-on experience among students, the boot camp also introduced interactive projects to students allowing them to apply the theories in the practical world, hence inspiring them to pursue careers in STEM (Science Technology Engineering, and Mathematics). The teens also had practical sessions at the Department of Health Services Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO). As part of the closing ceremony, the teens had a “March for Peace in Africa” in the University campus, Spelling Bee, and Leadership Training anchored by the Centre Leader Prof. Emeka E. Oguzie. The remarkable teens did not only enjoy every moment of the program but also showcased incredible dedication, hard work, and consistency.
