The Africa Centre of Excellence e in Future Energies and Electrochemical Systems (ACE-FUELS) recently acquired the nGuage Atomic Force Microscope, manufactured by ICSPI, Canada. The nGuage is world’s first single-chip atomic force microscope (AFM). ACE-FUELS is the first entity to acquire this particular model in Africa. It is portable, unique, super-efficient to run, highly sophisticated and has a very high resolution to capture.

Atomic force microscope is a powerful high resolution non-optical imaging technique that enables nanoscale imaging of topographical morphologies of all kinds of surfaces, including metals, polymers, ceramics, and even biological samples.
