Decentralized wastewater treatment: membrane electroreactors

Biography: Maria Elektorowicz, PhD, FCSCE, ing. (OIQ)
Dr. Maria Elektorowicz is a Professor in Environmental Engineering at Concordia University in Montreal (Canada). She has graduated from the Warsaw Institute of Technology (Poland) and UNESCO Post-doc fellowship program. She has investigated applications of electrochemical phenomena to various environmental problems over last 30 years. Outcomes of her research led to numerous publications and over 20 registered inventions and patents as well as many national and international recognitions. She is a recipient of the Albert E. Berry Medal decerned for an outstanding contribution to the field of environmental engineering in Canada. She is a winner of the Climate Change Solution Prize. Dr. Elektorowicz is a Member of the Provost’s Circle of Distinction at Concordia University. She is also the Fellow of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering and ex-chair of its Environmental Division. Furthermore, her technology on bio-electro treatment, which is the theme of this Webinar, was nomination to the Innovation Prize by the “Association for R&D and Innovation Quebec” for its full-scale application into municipal wastewater.
