FUTO BEGINS PROCESS INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTIONAL ACCREDITATION – SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDES GAP ANALYSIS STAGE

The Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) has began the process of international institutional accreditation/quality review by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), with the Gap Analysis Stage held on February 1 – 2, 2024. QAA is a world-leading quality agency with unmatched experience of providing impartial regulatory and collaborative quality assurance and enhancement. The International Quality Review (IQR) exercise is in line with the University Administration’s strategies to put the University on the International Arena. The exercise is powered by the Africa Centre of Excellence in Future Energies and Electrochemical System (ACE-FUELS ).

The  two day Gap Analysis exercise involved extensive virtual interactions with the top management of the University, ably led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Nnenna Oti, as well as teaching staff, heads of academic support services, students and Alumni. This followed from submission of a Gap Analysis questionnaire, with backup documentary evidence and a video presentation on FUTO’s facilities. All the interactive sessions were hosted at the ACE-FUELS Complex.

The ACE-FUELS Centre Leader, Prof. Emeka E. Oguzie expressed delight at the precision of FUTO’s presentation during the International Quality Review exercise and confirmed the Centre’s unwavering commitment to support the current University Administration in Consolidating the Culture of Excellence in training, research and administration.

Interestingly, the post Gap Assessment feedback from QAA, vide a letter to the Vice Chancellor dated 8th February 2024, from Chris Bland, Head of Accreditation and Consultancy International & Professional Services.

QAA, communicated the positive outcome of the Gap Assessment stage and FUTO’s readiness to progress to full review subject to further work or capacity

building.

CONGRATULATIONS FUTO!!

The international accreditation exercise is part of ACE-FUELS DLI 7 mandate.
