World Bank Supervision Mission visits ACE-FUELS

On the 22nd and 23rd of February, 2024, the Africa Centre of Excellence in Future Energies and Electrochemical Systems (ACE-FUELS) hosted a World Bank Supervision Mission. The Mission was led by Prof. Joseph Mutale (The University of Manchester), who is the World Bank’s subject matter expert and included Yvette Kwashie (Association of African Universities, AAU) and Simi Zang (National Universities Commission, NUC). The purpose of the visit was to conduct a thorough evaluation of the Centre’s implementation projects and performance on set milestones, as well as discuss its sustainability plans.

During the visit, the Team engaged in meaningful discussions with the ACE-FUELS management team, teaching staff, students, sectoral advisory board and sectoral partners, to clean further insights on the overall performance of the Centre and the level of support accorded different stakeholders. The team also conducted inspections of the ACE-FUELS General Purpose Research Laboratory, classrooms, computational laboratory, and other facilities.

The Team will feature its findings and recommendations in its mission report. Overall, the visit was a huge success, and the Centre was commended for its unwavering dedication and commitment to achieving its milestones.
